Roof Curb Dimensions 39" Square x 12" High, Model RC-36-H12

This roof curb is 39" long by 39" wide and 12" high and is only compatible with roof vents or fans with a curb mount flange. Model RC-36-H12 will fit a vent or fan that has a curb mount flange that measures 39.5 inches.  Active Ventilation Products' prefabricated roof curbs are for flat or low sloped membrane roofs.

A roof curb is a metal frame to act as a base for a roof vent or fan. As a result, this base will provide additional height allowing for installation in all climate zones. Proper installation ensures that the accessory has a level platform for attachment. Roof curbs can also work as a hatch, allowing easy access to ductwork, HVAC units, or maintenance in the attic below.

Traditionally, roofers build wooden roof curbs on the roof at the time of the membrane installation. However, building wooden curbs can cause damage to the roof membrane. This happens because of the cutting of lumber as well as loose nails or screws that end up getting walked by the crew. Using prefabricated aluminum roof curbs eliminates the need to build wooden boxes, and reduces the chance of damaging the roof.

An important safety feature is that aluminum curbs are not flammable like wooden roof curbs. The majority of roof curbs vent out heat from range hoods or HVAC units. This heat can cause wooden curbs to burn. However, aluminum will not burn, rust, or corrode. Aluminum curbs are safer and easy to clean.

Installation of this roof curb is for EPDM, PVC, and TPO roof membranes

The flashing on the roof curb allows for mechanical fasteners to securely attach the curb to the roof. Once placed, it is to be covered with roofing material for a water tight seal.
