12 inch Intake Roof Vent | Round Back Intake Roof Vent | RBV-12-C2-IN

This intake roof vent is 12 inches in diameter and has a 2-inch tall collar. In other words, this vent has 2 inches of clearance between the base and the inner louvers. The model RBV-12-C2-IN has 113 inches of net free area (NFA), which means each vent will ventilate 470 square feet of attic space.

This vent is a hybrid design where 1/3 of the collar is closed to prevent runoff from entering.

To determine the number of roof vents you may need, see the Vent Calculator. Each 12-inch roof vent has a 17” x 17” square flange.

Benefits:

  • Keeps your home comfortable and energy-efficient
  • Louver design prevents water from splashing inside
  • Inner louvers prevent insects and animals from entering the vent
  • Round aerodynamic design can withstand harsh weather
  • Noiseless – does not require electricity to exhaust air

Where to install: The lower end of the roof

This 12-inch roof vent is ideal for roofs with a 2/12 to 5/12 roof pitch in climate zones 1-3. This intake roof vent should go near the lower end of the roof.

To determine the number of vents you may need for proper attic ventilation, see the Vent Calculator.

How it Operates:

The Round Back Intake Roof Vent will provide fresh air into the attic. Without proper rooftop ventilation, heat and moisture may cause the structure to decay. As a result, ventilation helps to make a home more comfortable and energy efficient.

The top 1/3 of the collar is closed to prevent runoff from splashing inside the vent. This side is to be facing the ridge.

The vented lid is manufactured from one piece of spun aluminum, which prevents rain and snow from entering the attic. The round design is aerodynamic and can withstand wind pressure exceeding 200 mph. All Round Back roof vents are resistant to corrosion and will remain rust-free for the life of the roof.

The inner louvers of the roof vent keep insects and animals from entering the attic. The louvers also allow the air to flow freely to the outside.

This 12-inch roof vent is also great for residential roof applications because of its aesthetically pleasing appearance. Because of their low profile, the Round Back Vents can also be painted to match the color of asphalt shingle roofs.

Calculate number of Model  RBV-12-C2-IN  Vents Needed for a Given Area

Enter the Width and Length of the attic space you need to ventilate to calculate the area. You may also enter the area directly in the "Area" field. It is not necessary to hit the Return or Enter key (which will refresh this page), just enter numbers in the fields.

Enter width of space to calculate area (or enter Area below)

If you know it, you may enter the area directly here

The diameter size of all roof vents determines the Net Free Area, also known as the "NFA". NFA is the measured amount of opening each vent offers at each specific size. to be available for venting air through a specific vent size. The calculator below will find the overall number of vents needed to effectively ventilate the targeted attic space.

Once you have the area, the numbers shown below are the number of vents of that size which would ventilate the specified area with both 1/300 and 1/150 rule.

*Please note
The roof vent calculation values shown above are for the exhaust portion of the roof. The same amount of net free air inches is needed for air intake as well. Proper roof ventilation consists of 50% air exhaust and 50% air intake.
