12-inch Aura Solar Attic Fan | Model ASF-12-C8 | 740 CFM
The 12-inch Aura Solar Attic Fan is 12 inches in diameter and has an 8-inch tall collar. The model ASF-12-C8 exhausts air at 740 CFM. All 12-inch solar attic fans have a standard 17" x 17" square flange.
Benefits:
- Keeps your home comfortable and energy-efficient
- The fan runs virtually silent at 740 cfm
- Fan gets electricity from direct sunlight
- Works passively with the wind when there is no sunlight
- Inner louvers prevent insects and animals from entering the vent
- Round aerodynamic design withstands harsh weather
Installation:
Exhaust fans with a collar height of 8 inches or greater are typically used for low-slope or flat roof ventilation. However, if installed less than 6 feet from the peak, this fan can be used on a 0/12 to 5/12 pitch roof in climate zones 1-6.
The Aura Solar Fan is ideal for ventilating low-slope and flat roofs. It removes heat during the summer and moisture during the winter to provide ventilation all year. Keeping the attic dry during the winter preserves attic insulation and prevents ice dams.
How it works:
The Aura Solar Attic Fan uses direct sunlight to power its fan. The panel above needs bright, uninterrupted sunlight, preferably on a south-facing roof. Never point the solar panel in a northern direction, or it will not work.
However, it exhausts air continuously, even without the sun (on cloudy days and evenings). It works passively due to the Venturi Effect. When the wind blows against the outer louvers, this creates a vortex of air within the head, creating an upward draft that allows air to flow out of the vent.
The 1/8-inch louvers prevent rain, snow, insects, and animals from entering inside the fan.
