Powered Roof Fan Motor Replacement | PSC Motor Replacement | MTR-14

Replacement motors for AVP's 14 inch diameter Aura Attic fans. A Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) Motor is a type of single-phase AC motor. More specifically, a type of split-phase induction motor in which the capacitor is permanently connected as opposed to only being connected when starting.

The motor is 3.3 inches in diameter and is mainly for HVAC applications such as inline fans.

Motor Specs:

  • 1/8 HP
  • 115 Volts AC
  • Sealed Ball Bearings
  • 1 Speed
  • 1500 RPMs
  • Clockwise Rotation
  • 1.65 Amps
  • Rigid Mounting Bracket
  • Weight: 7.2 lbs
  • Open Motor
  • Capacitor 15 microfarad µF
  • Insulation Class B

The PSC motor replacement is simple and efficient.

How PSC Motors Work:

To use a single-phase power supply available in residential homes to drive a motor, there is a need for a mechanism to start the motor rotating. A PSC motor does this by having separate main and secondary windings with the main winding connected directly to the power supply and the secondary windings connected via a capacitor.

Calculate number of Model  MTR-14  Vents Needed for a Given Area

Enter the Width and Length of the attic space you need to ventilate to calculate the area. You may also enter the area directly in the "Area" field. It is not necessary to hit the Return or Enter key (which will refresh this page), just enter numbers in the fields.

If you know it, you may enter the area directly here

The diameter size of all roof vents determines the Net Free Area, also known as the "NFA". NFA is the measured amount of opening each vent offers at each specific size. to be available for venting air through a specific vent size. The calculator below will find the overall number of vents needed to effectively ventilate the targeted attic space.

Once you have the area, the numbers shown below are the number of vents of that size which would ventilate the specified area with both 1/300 and 1/150 rule.

*Please note
The roof vent calculation values shown above are for the exhaust portion of the roof. The same amount of net free air inches is needed for air intake as well. Proper roof ventilation consists of 50% air exhaust and 50% air intake.
