Round Back Solar Fan | RBSF-8-C4 | 365 CFM

The 8-inch Round-Back Solar Roof Exhaust Fan is 8 inches in diameter and has a 4-inch tall collar. Its model number is RBSF-8-C4. The fan exhausts air out of the attic at 365 CFM and comes with a standard 13” x 13” square flange.

Installation:

This fan will be suitable in all climate zones if installed 4 feet or less from the roof's peak on a pitch of 3/12 or greater.

The 8-inch Solar Attic Fan is engineered for roofs with a 3/12 to 12/12 roof pitch.

How it works:

The 8-inch Round-Back Solar Roof Exhaust Fan uses direct sunlight to power its fan. However, this fan will continuously exhaust air even when there is no sun, and the motor is off because it works passively using the Stack Effect. This occurs when the indoor temperature rises higher than the outside temperature. The hot air rushes upward to exit through the vent. As a result, this allows cooler fresh air to air to flow in through the soffit vents.

The diameter size of all roof vents determines the Net Free Area, also known as the "NFA". NFA is the measured amount of opening each vent offers at each specific size. to be available for venting air through a specific vent size. The calculator below will find the overall number of vents needed to effectively ventilate the targeted attic space.

Once you have the area, the numbers shown below are the number of vents of that size which would ventilate the specified area with both 1/300 and 1/150 rule.

*Please note
The roof vent calculation values shown above are for the exhaust portion of the roof. The same amount of net free air inches is needed for air intake as well. Proper roof ventilation consists of 50% air exhaust and 50% air intake.
