20-inch Aura Solar Retrofit Fan | Solar Attic Fan

The 20-inch Aura Solar Retrofit Fan is 20 inches in diameter. The model number is ASF-20-RF, and it exhausts air out as a replacement fan. The Retrofit is designed to fit over an existing base as a replacement fan.

Benefits:

  • Keeps your home comfortable and energy-efficient
  • Virtually silent fan provides 2,029 CFM
  • Fan works from direct sunlight to the solar panel
  • Works passively with the wind when there is no sunlight
  • Inner louvers prevent insects and animals from entering the vent
  • Round aerodynamic design can withstand harsh weather

Installation:

Aura Solar Attic Fans are a perfect replacement fan for Roof Wind Turbines, which frequently stop working because of corrosion. The Solar Attic Fan has a high-efficiency fan to provide excellent ventilation year-round. It exhausts heat in the summer and moisture in the winter.

The Solar Attic Fan also works passively using the Venturi Effect. When the wind blows against the outer louvers, an upward draft is created, allowing air to flow freely out of the attic.

How it works:

Working off direct sunlight, the Solar Attic Fan Retrofit's solar panel should not be facing north. The more south in direction, the better, as long as there is no shade from trees or other obstructions.

The vertical louvers continually exhaust air while preventing rain and snow from entering. The vertical louvers also keep out insects and animals, allowing for optimal airflow. In addition, the round design is aerodynamic to withstand wind speeds beyond 200 mph.

Roof turbine parts wear out, even if the vent is balanced perfectly. If a roof turbine makes noise, it slows down because it is worn out. It will likely allow rain and snow into the attic when it slows down. The Aura Solar Retrofit will prevent rain and snow from entering the attic for the life of the roof.

Calculate number of Model  ASF-20-RF  Vents Needed for a Given Area

Enter the Width and Length of the attic space you need to ventilate to calculate the area. You may also enter the area directly in the "Area" field. It is not necessary to hit the Return or Enter key (which will refresh this page), just enter numbers in the fields.

Enter width of space to calculate area (or enter Area below)

If you know it, you may enter the area directly here

The diameter size of all roof vents determines the Net Free Area, also known as the "NFA". NFA is the measured amount of opening each vent offers at each specific size. to be available for venting air through a specific vent size. The calculator below will find the overall number of vents needed to effectively ventilate the targeted attic space.

Once you have the area, the numbers shown below are the number of vents of that size which would ventilate the specified area with both 1/300 and 1/150 rule.

*Please note
The roof vent calculation values shown above are for the exhaust portion of the roof. The same amount of net free air inches is needed for air intake as well. Proper roof ventilation consists of 50% air exhaust and 50% air intake.
